When was the Kansas City Wood Carvers Club formed?
The club was formed in 1972, for the benefit of amateur and professional Wood Carvers. The non-profit corporation was organized to further the appreciation of woodcarving. Members receive a membership card, monthly newsletter, membership roster, and constitution and by-laws of the club.
When are the meetings?
Monthly meetings are held on the last Tuesday of the month at Faith Lutheran Church, 67th and Roe, Prairie Village, Ks. The meeting starts at 7:00 p.m. and includes a short business session, carving competition, a program of interest to Wood Carvers, and fellowship with other carvers.
Are there any carving sessions?
Informal carving sessions are held on Monday evenings (6:30 p.m.) at Faith Lutheran Church, 67th & Roe, and Tuesday evenings (7:00 p.m.) at the United Methodist Church, 1321 N.E. Vivion Road. These sessions are free to members and non-members.
Are there any carving classes?
Instructional classes are sponsored by the club and individual members. Information is available at the monthly meetings or through the K.C. Chipper, the club's monthly newsletter.
Are there any carving shows?
The club sponsors one show each year. The Show is usually in March at John Knox Pavillion in Lee's Summit, Missouri, and includes ribbon competition in many carving categories.
Are there any other activities?
An annual outdoor Carve-In is held at Heritage Park in Olathe; a carving-gift exchange and party at Christmas; a Carving Show Brunch; a fellowship and social gathering Anniversary party in September, and various carving related scouting activities.
Are there any carving related magazines?
Kansas City Wood Carvers Club members can subscribe to the National Wood Carvers Association's magazine, Chip Chats, Carving Magazine, and Wood Carving Illustrated magazine.

Membership dues are $18.00 per year and $4.00 for each additional member at the
same address. New members who join the club after September 30 pay prorated
membership dues of $1.50 per month, and $.35 for each additional new member living
at the same address. Membership renewal is September 1 of each year.
